Our Vineyards

Welcome to Oakwood

Powered by French expertise, Shaped by the essence of India

At Oakwood Vineyards, we truly believe that ‘the art of finest wine-making is rooted in our terriors and traditions’. Situated at the foothills of western Ghats, our picturesque vineyard is spread over 30 acres along the banks of Pravara Sangam river in Ahmednagar District (Maharashtra). The vineyard benefits from well-drained chalky soil and the moderate climate. With a strong belief in organic viticulture practices, we have managed to conserve natural cultivation methods so that every vine can give the best of itself.

Currently, our vineyard is home to a variety of noble grapes including Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Shiraz. Other grapes that are widely planted are Zinfandel and Viognier.

Our Winery

Built in 2011, our state-of-art winery has an installed capacity of 5 lakh litres and barrel maturation capacity of 1 lakh litres – by far, the largest maturation facilities owned by an independent, entirely family owned winery in India.

Our unique techniques like inert gas extraction of juices from the grapes, and traditional practices including thermo regulated fermentation and malolactic fermentation in french oak barrels bring out the distinctive characteristics in our wide range of premium as well as classic range of varietal grape wines.

Our Winemakers

The unmatched quality of our wines is the result of the nurturing and guidance received from the expert French winemaker, Mathias Pellissard. Having been associated with Oakwood since its inception, Mathias personally selected every grape and vinified every wine under the Oakwood label in the early years. A winemaker of international repute, Mathias brings with him rich experience of having worked on different vintages across diverse climatic regions (Europe, Australia, Russia, and China).

Over the years, Mathias helped set up a rigorous quality standard and trained the local team at winery. Today, our resident winemaker, Rajesh Rasal and assistant winemaker, Yogesh Kewal have taken over the mantle and continue the tradition of excellence in winemaking. Mathias has moved into the role of a consultant winemaker and guides premium winemaking at Oakwood.
